Just want to say thank you for finally making a "proper" navigation app!
Personally I quite like a vector chart, but the ability to quickly plot a CTS has been conspicuously absent from digital navigation for a long time, and being able to keep navigating on the same system if/when the GPS fails is fabulous. This app is now my primary chartplotter AND my passage planning computer.
There are a few improvements I'd love to see:
- Multiple tidal vectors: I've seen this mentioned on this forum already but would like to add my vote for it. Would reduce the chances of calculation errors on long legs a fair bit.
- Coordinates on fixes: When tapped, fixes should show their coordinates like waypoints do to facilitate writing into the logbook.
- CTS editing: When I passage plan, I will create a route and plot a CTS for each leg. When I am coming up to the leg, I will invariably not be exactly on the waypoint, so I will adjust the start point of the CTS slightly. Unfortunately moving the start point changes the tidal vector, so I have to remember what it was so I can put it back. Ideally for this workflow, when I change the start point the tide should maintain it's direction and speed, and the water track should maintain it's speed and adjust direction. That way I could move the start point and get a new CTS in one quick action. This also seems like it would be all the more important if multiple tidal vectors were supported.
Happy to take feedback on that last one if you have some better workflow for me!
I have lots more ideas (especially when it comes to SignalK integration - send that CTS to my autopilot please!) but I'll leave it there for now. Please also let me know if I can be of any assistance - I am a developer, engineer and sailor very keen on making sailors lives easier and safer!
